Lately I have been reading all kinds of crime-related thrillers (both Fiction and non-Fiction). Ever since Gillian Flynn’s “Gone Girl” came out, tons of other authors are writing and releasing similar “a dark look into a marriage” type of thrillers, hoping to cash in on the HUGE success of “Gone Girl”. Some of these books have been really incredible and some of the others have been not so great. I’m planning to do a post dedicated to the best crime/psychological thrillers, that I’ve read lately (there are so many it’s ridiculous).

Anyways, the other day I was lurking around my local Chapters, and I ran into a friend of mine who works there 🙂 She reads as much as I do, and had TONS of recommendations for me to try. I trust her taste in books, and I was immediately intrigued with everything she took off the shelves to show me. Most of the books she suggested I had never even heard of, or they were in a genre I don’t read a lot of. It was so fun and interesting to get some suggestions that were a bit different then the current top reads I see all over my Instagram and on Book-Tube. So basically I bought all of the books she suggested, and I thought I would share with you guys one of the books I am really looking forward to reading this weekend.

The book I’m rambling on and on about is “That Lonely Section of Hell/ The Botched Investigation of a Serial Killer who Almost Got Away”, written by Lori Shenher. This book is non-fiction and it is a memoir written by an ex-police detective Lori, who wanted to tell her story about her experience and involvement in the investigation and interrogation of serial killer Robert Pickton. She not only goes into detail about her work on this case, but also into her years long struggle with Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (caused by her work on this case), and also touching on all the ways the investigation went wrong along the way.

As soon as I read the blurb for this book, I knew I would be leaving the store with it. I HAD to read this. Not only would it be fascinating to learn more about this highly-publicized case, but I also thought it would be interesting to read about the city of Vancouver (where it is set & the surrounding areas as well). I really hope it’s a good one, can’t wait to read this over the weekend. Let me know in the comments below if you guys have read it yet, xo.
