The First Cabin Trip of the Summer!

Hello Guys!

My family has a cabin on Gambier Island, B.C.. which is about a 40 minute boat ride from Horseshoe Bay. My parents bought the cabin YEARS and years ago, and we have been going up every Summer since I was maybe 12 years old?

I can’t even begin to tell you how many memories I’ve made up there… How many friends my Sister and I have made, how many incredible Summer’s we have spent up there reading old “Sweet Valley High” books/watching old DVD’s like “The Silver Bullet” over and over again. I even had my very FIRST (and very awkward) kiss up there! First kisses aside… we also played endless hours of cards & flash-light tag, almost drowned in the canoes, ate thousands of roasted marshmallows, camped out under the stars, went skinny dipping, and just had the best time ever. We grew up there during those Summers! I wouldn’t change anything about it, and I can’t wait for Paige and I to bring our kids up there one day, and start the cycle all over again. I’m going to keep all those “Sweet Valley High” books, because they will NEVER go out of style.

Our cabin is hands down the most special place in the world to my whole family… we have moved around Vancouver so many times, to so many different houses.. but this place will always feel like home.

Last weekend, my Sister and our boyfriends (Ryan and Luke), got the chance to go up to the cabin with my wonderful Mom.. and our Grandparents! It was such an incredible weekend! We had beautiful weather, and our next-door neighbor even put on a Fireworks show for Canada Day! We only spent one night there, but it was the best night of the Summer so far, hands down.

Here are a few little snapshots from our adventures last weekend.

Also PS.: To top it all off, on the boat-ride home to Vancouver, our boat came across FIVE Orca Whales in the wild! The driver yelled out at us to check the whales out, and I’m not kidding when I say.. I’ve NEVER moved so fast! I leaped over Ryan in our seat, threw my lens cap to the ground and almost fell into the water, trying to capture the “shot” of this once-in-a-lifetime scene. I managed to get a few great photos, but these photos don’t even compare to how amazing it was to actually see these majestic creatures out in their element. I don’t think my Sister Paige or I have ever actually SEEN a whale.

Anyways, fucking awesome weekend.

Hope you all had a great Canada Day & Fourth of July Weekend! I have readers from all over the place, so if you aren’t from Canada or the U.S, and you are reading this…. I hope your weekend was awesome as well.

xoxo,

Carly.
