Happy 2018 You Guys!
So… I have some HUGE news…… On Christmas Eve Ryan PROPOSED to me… and I said YES!! <3
Ryan is the best friend I have ever had, and I love him more than anything in the entire world. He is my biggest cheerleader, and he is the funniest person I have ever met. He makes me laugh 100 times a day.. he always remembers to bring home Diet Coke…he lets me watch a 5 Hour Kardashian marathons.. with almost no complaints at all…. he doesn’t bat an eyelash when I bring home WAY too many books on the daily.. he will always help me get the perfect Instagram shot… he knows my every mood before I know it myself.. he can turn any bad day into a good one almost instantly…he teaches me new things every day.. he knows all the best Memes… he is basically Gordon Ramsey in the kitchen… he lets me keep the reading light on until 4 am every night…. and honestly he makes me a braver, stronger and happier person.. in every single way.. and a million other things. I could never list them all. I have never felt so completely safe and sure of anything. I couldn’t be more excited to become his Wife, to start a family together.. and just for the countless adventures, Netflix marathons, 2 am chicken strip runs & every other perfect thing to come. I love you more than you could ever know Ryan, and this was obviously the most magical Christmas of my entire life.
So the PROPOSAL.. was everything I ever dreamed it would be. To say I was surprised is an understatement. I literally had ZERO idea this was happening… like not even the smallest inkling.
Okay so I’ll set the scene for you… It was around 11 am on Christmas Eve, and I was sleeping in way too late, as usual. Ryan came into our bedroom and was trying to wake me up. I kept saying “just five more minutes”.. like 100 times over. Finally around 1 pm I rolled out of bed, and lazily strolled into the kitchen. Ryan was making breakfast, and everything seemed totally normal. I was literally sitting on the couch, in my rumpled pj’s.. with INSANE hair/ ZERO makeup.. and I was just sprawled out expecting NOTHING.
Ryan suggested that we open our Christmas presents for each other, before we headed over to my Dad’s place for Christmas Eve Dinner in a few hours. I was so excited, and I couldn’t wait for Ryan to open all the little things I got for him.
He walks over towards me, and is all casual.. saying “why don’t you just start with this little one first?”. I thought nothing of this, and I promptly tore off the wrapping paper.. while also sticking the wrapping paper bow onto my HEAD! This is the kind of vibe I was rolling with here… I had no idea I was about to be PROPOSED TO!
So I open the wrapping paper.. and inside is an iPhone 6 box. I was SO excited. I could feel it inside the paper, and I was hoping and hoping it was an iPhone.. because the rear-facing camera is broken on my phone, and I’ve been meaning to replace it. Then.. I got it open and I could tell the iPhone box was taped shut, and it looked used. I was immediatly a little bit disappointed and I didn’t want to let Ryan see that I was disappointed. So I did this whole bit of “trying to look like I wasn’t hoping I was getting a new iPhone” face.. and I figured there was probably some joke gift inside. I had NO clue at ALL that my Engagement Ring was INSIDE.
I struggled with the tape for so long, that in hindsight Ryan must have been DYING of nerves during this. I get the lid off, and inside I see a square black box. At this point, I got a full body rush of emotions! 99% of me was thinking “IS THIS WHAT I THINK IT IS?!”, but once again I didn’t want to look like I thought I was about to get Engaged.. because what if it was just some beautiful earrings or a bracelet or something? I didn’t want to lose my shit just yet. Before I had time to work out how to re-arrange my face.. Ryan stood up and got down on one knee.
The next few minutes feel like something out of a dream, and they are almost a blur. I almost couldn’t process what was happening right in front of me, and I immediately started smiling like a psycho. Next thing I knew Ryan asked me to be his Wife.. and I just lost it. I started screaming I think, hugged him probably way too aggressively.. and just lost my mind. Then during all of this he says “So are you going to say Yes?”. I was SO out of control that I forgot to say YES!!! Obviously I said “Yes” like 100 times over the next minute.. and just like that we were ENGAGED!
Ryan was such a little sneak.. he had alerted my parents this was about to go down.. earlier in the day, and I still can’t believe I had NO idea. It was the most perfect day of my entire life. We got to head straight over to my Dads place, with my Sister and Luke.. for a celebration. The next morning we saw my Mom and her boyfriend.. and celebrated again…. and THEN off to Nanaimo to celebrate with Ryan’s family.
Keeping this secret off of Social Media for 24 hours was so hard, but we wanted to surprise Ryan’s family, when we saw them in person. We walked in the door, and they were all gathered together.. it was perfect timing! When we told them, everyone cheered and it was just the best way to celebrate Christmas.
So yes, that is my Big News!
I will keep you guys posted with all things Wedding ASAP. I think we are thinking November 2018! Eek!!
