Hello Again,
I made a post similar to this one, a few months ago.. called “My Most Anticipated Books, Films & TV Shows of 2018”. Since then I have discovered SO many more incredible Summer 2018 Releases, that I had to do a Post Part #2.
Once again, I will break it down into upcoming Movies, T.V Show’s & Book Releases! Most (if not all) of these, are going to be coming out this Summer! So much to look forward to. I got my wallet stolen a few years ago, and I lost my “Scene” card. I really need to get another one, because the amount of movies I see in the theater is ridiculous. Think of all the wasted POINTS I could be collecting, haha!
I will give you my initial thoughts on these ones, from the trailer etc. I can’t give you any real review, since they haven’t come out yet.. but I will as always attach the Chapters/ Amazon/Google/Rotten Tomatoes.. or IMDB Plot Summary, for each one!
And off we go…
UPCOMING SUMMER 2018 MOVIES
1.) “Hereditary”
This movie is being called “The Most HORRIFYING Movie in Years”.
Release Date: June 8th, 2018
Okay so you guys all know how much I love Horror Movies… I’m not even exaggerating in the slightest.. when I say that this looks like the most disturbing movie EVER. The trailer terrified me, and actually gave me full-body chills when I watched it. The cinematography and the music were so brilliantly done, and so TENSE.. I felt like I was going to explode. If the trailer is any indication on what’s to come… this movie is going to be extremely nightmare inducing. I can’t WAIT.
Not to mention the reviews have been fantastic too. So many critics are saying this is “the most terrifying movie in decades”, “this generations version of the Exorcist” etc etc. Really excited for this one. If you are scared easily, like at ALL.. don’t even click on the trailer.. trust me.. I’m STILL thinking about the trailer.
(Rotten Tomatoes Plot Summary & Review)
“A deeply unsettling film, the kind of horror movie that pulls from relatable human emotions like grief and resentment to ultimately become an absolute nightmare.”- Brian Tallerico
(When Ellen, the matriarch of the Graham family, passes away, her daughter’s family begins to unravel cryptic and increasingly terrifying secrets about their ancestry. The more they discover, the more they find themselves trying to outrun the sinister fate they seem to have inherited. Making his feature debut, writer-director Ari Aster unleashes a nightmare vision of a domestic breakdown that exhibits the craft and precision of a nascent auteur, transforming a familial tragedy into something ominous and deeply disquieting, and pushing the horror movie into chilling new terrain with its shattering portrait of heritage gone to hell.)
2.) “Hot Summer Nights”
Starring my new obsession Timothee Chalamet (From “Call Me By Your Name)
Release Date: July 27th, 2018
I feel like millions of people fell head over heels in love with Timothee Chalamet, after seeing the Oscar Nominated “Call my By Your Name”. I would probably watch anything he is starring in next.. but this actually looks really great. It’s set in the 1980’s, and is the story of a young teenager (Timothee), who goes to vacation in Cape Cod for the Summer. He ends up falling in love, and also getting WAY out of his depth with a drug-dealing situation. It looks really artsy, and beautifully filmed. Very excited for this one! I love a good coming-of-age story.
(Rotten Tomatoes Plot Summary)
(Set in Cape Cod over one scorching summer, Hot Summer Nights follows Daniel (Timothée Chalamet), a shy out-of-towner who gets in over his head flipping weed with the neighborhood rebel (Alex Roe) while pursuing his new business partner’s enigmatic sister (Maika Monroe). With a hurricane looming in the wings, tensions rise against a backdrop of drive-ins, arcades, and crashed parties as the stakes (and temperatures) grow ever higher.)
3.) “The Darkest Minds”
Based on the Bestselling YA Dystopian Series, by Alexandra Bracken
Release Date: August 3rd, 2018
I haven’t read this book Series, but the movie looks pretty interesting. I love a good Dystopian story, and I really hope this movie is a good adaptation of the book. I might have to read the first book, before seeing this. It sounds like a really crazy plot, and I love reading the book before seeing the film. It does look quite “YA”, but I’m hoping it will still be enjoyable for an older audience as well. Somewhat on the fence about this one, but I’m still looking forward to it.
(Rotten Tomatoes Plot Summary)
(When teens mysteriously develop powerful new abilities, they are declared a threat by the government and detained. Sixteen-year-old Ruby, one of the most powerful young people anyone has encountered, escapes her camp and joins a group of runaway teens seeking safe haven. Soon this newfound family realizes that, in a world in which the adults in power have betrayed them, running is not enough and they must wage a resistance, using their collective power to take back control of their future.)
UPCOMING SUMMER 2018 T.V SHOWS
1.) “Sweetbitter”
Based on the Best-Selling Novel by Stephanie Danler
Release Date: May 6th, 2018 on STARZ
I don’t know much about this one either, but the novel has been on my “To-Be-Read” list forever! I also have a huge crush on Ella Purnell, who plays the lead in this show. It’s another coming of age story, all about a young girl moving to New York City, and navigating her way through the culinary/restaurant scene. It looks really well filmed, and perfectly cast. I’ll be checking this out as soon as it’s released. It has that alluring sort of soapy drama draw.. as well as the “coming-of-age in NYC” thing going for it too. All of which I’m very into.
(Rotten Tomatoes Plot Summary)
(Sweet. Salt. Sour. Bitter. Umami. Now your tongue is coded. “Sweetbitter” tells the story of Tess, a 22-year-old who arrives in New York City ready to pursue a new life. When she’s invited to train at one of the best restaurants in the city, she thinks she’s found a steady income and a safe place to wait. But Tess is quickly intoxicated by the chaotic, adrenalized world behind-the-scenes: tasting expensive wine, exploring dive bars, and learning who she can trust.)
2.) “The Affair”
Season 4 Premiere Date: June 17th, 2018
I’m SO excited for this! If you haven’t seen this show yet… PLEASE go back and watch the first 3 seasons. You will love it.
Okay so I can’t really get into the plot of the upcoming Season 4, obviously because SPOILERS… But I will give you the run-down on Season 1! This show not only stars three of my favorite actors and actresses… (Ruth Wilson “Luther”, Joshua Jackson “Dawson’s Creek”, & Dominic West “The Wire), but it’s one of the most well done mystery/drama hybrid shows, I’ve ever seen. When I watched the first episode, I figured it would be a very sappy “affair” story… and while it WAS that.. it also had an INSANE murder mystery sub-plot I wasn’t expecting. Not only that… but the way the show is shot, is so unique and brilliant. Each episode is told in two narrative parts.. from Noah’s perspective.. and then from Allie’s perspective. It’s implied that they are both telling the story of “The Affair”, but it does an amazing job of portraying how differently we all recall certain events. How two people can remember the same day, or the same situation… COMPLETELY differently. It’s a very well done character-study, of these complex and flawed people.. and it feels very realistic. This show is a real sleeper, and you really should watch. 10/10.
(Rotten Tomatoes Season ONE Plot Summary)
(At once deeply observed and intriguingly elusive, The Affair explores the emotional effects of an extramarital relationship. Noah is a New York City schoolteacher and novelist who is happily married, but resents his dependence on his wealthy father-in-law. Alison is a young waitress trying to piece her life and marriage back together in the wake of a tragedy. The provocative drama unfolds when Alison and Noah meet in Montauk at the end of Long Island.)
3.) “Safe”
On: Netflix, Based on the Novel by Harlan Coben
Release Date: May 10th, 2018
I am a HUGE Michael C Hall fan, and I’ve never really gotten over the sadness of “Dexter” coming to an end 🙁 I loved “Dexter” SO much, and I marathon-ed the entire series within like a week??
I am so happy to see another show starring Michael C Hall, and this looks right up my alley. There isn’t a ton of information out about the show yet, but we do know that it’s going to be a very dark and tense thriller (my fav). The story is about a single father, helping his two daughters deal with the death of their Mother. Tragically soon after, one of his daughter’s goes missing.. and Tom does everything he can to find her. This hunt stirs up all kinds of dark secrets, and twists and turns. Sounds like a very “Broad-church” type show. Can’t wait for this. I’m so used to seeing him playing Dexter, that I’m going to have to stop thinking he’s about to murder every character he comes across haha.
(Rotten Tomatoes Plot Summary)
(A widower maintains normalcy after the death of his wife until one day, his daughter goes missing, and he begins to uncover buried secrets of their seemingly secure gated community.)
UPCOMING SUMMER 2018 CONCERTS
So many of my favorite artists, are playing in Vancouver/Seattle this Summer. I’m going with two of my girlfriends to see Taylor Swift in Seattle this May 22nd, which I’m excited for. I’m almost more excited about Camilla Cabello, who’s Taylor’s opening act haha! I love a good Seattle Road Trip.. and I can already tell we are going to have a wild time.
After that, it’s Harry Styles on July 6th, and then James Bay in October! I need to get my iPhone fixed ASAP (the front facing camera is broken), so I can film some insta-stories for you guys! I’m still so devastated that I was FRONT row at Lorde, and got zero footage! Damn that broken phone.

Brett’s the fan favorite. Tattooed and only twenty-seven, the meteoric success of her spin studio—and her recent engagement to her girlfriend—has made her the object of jealousy and vitriol from her cast mates.
Kelly, Brett’s older sister and business partner, is the most recent recruit, dismissed as a hanger-on by veteran cast. The golden child growing up, she defers to Brett now—a role which requires her to protect their shocking secret.
Stephanie, the first black cast member and the oldest, is a successful bestselling author of erotic novels. There have long been whispers about her hot, non-working actor-husband and his wandering eye, but this season the focus is on the rift that has opened between her and Brett, former best friends—and resentment soon breeds contempt.
Lauren, the start-up world’s darling whose drinking has gotten out of control, is Goal Diggers’ recovery narrative—everyone loves a comeback story.
