A few months ago, my family lost a very close and beloved friend, James. James, aka “Jimmy” had been a vibrant part of our lives for over 30 years, and he was very loved. He was a brilliant Interior Decorator, an outstanding Artist, and just the most wonderful, fascinating man. We are all going to miss him, more than words could say.

On Monday evening, My family and I, as well as all of Jimmy’s close friends, took a sunset boat ride out to the middle of the ocean, to release his ashes. I can’t even explain to you how beautiful the Sunset was that night, it couldn’t have been more perfect. We were listening to Jimmy’s favorite songs on the speaker, sharing stories about him, and it was such a special moment. At one point we all tossed these little pink roses into the ocean, and when we turned around to face the sunset, all of the roses were floating in a line, right into the line of the sunset on the water. It was a moment I’ll never forget.

The evening wouldn’t have been possible without my incredible Mom, who handmade all of Jimmy’s favorite foods, and who organized the whole thing. Also a huge thank you to my Dad and his friend Gerry, for taking us all out on the boat.. and giving everyone a chance to say Goodbye to Jimmy, in the most beautiful place.
