A Few Spooky Suggestions for Halloween Weekend.

Happy Almost-Halloween Weekend!

It’s officially the BEST time of the entire year, once again. I love Halloween so much, that it’s borderline obsessive. I’ve been decorating our Apartment, and buying Halloween Candy.. since the end of September haha.

In honor of this upcoming Weekend (and when most of you will be celebrating Halloween… since it falls on a Wednesday this year), I put together a cheat-sheet, of all the Brand new Movies, Netflix Releases, T.V Show’s, and Book Releases.. that either came out in October, or are coming out this weekend! I have to say I’m the most excited about the “Sabrina the Teenage Witch” re-boot.. “The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina”, which hits Netflix TONIGHT at Midnight! I’ll go into more details, all about it below. Trust me, it looks SO amazing (also really terrifying). Also I NEED to know if Salem is going to talk in this version. Salem really is a late 90’s icon of mine.

So without any more rambling, here are some spooky suggestions.. to spice up your Halloween Weekend! These are all new Releases, so I haven’t seen or read any of these yet either…. so if they turn out to be awful, don’t judge me haha! I’ve got a good feeling about them though <3 I will simply attach the Official Blurb’s for everything, and let you know what I think about them. I can’t give an in-depth review, because I will be watching for the first time myself this weekend too! Stay tuned for my October Wrap Up, if you want to hear all my review-type thoughts on all of these goodies.

Happy Almost-Halloween Guys,

xo

Creepy October T.V Releases

1.) “The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina”

Netflix

Release Date: October 26th, 2018

finaloctreleasespost (68)finaloctreleasespost (38)finaloctreleasespost (37)Netflix TCA 2018

I haven’t been THIS excited about a new Netflix show, in a really really long time. “Sabrina the Teenage Witch”, once upon a time.. was a little show on something called “TGIF”. When I was 13 years old, “TGIF” was the absolute best thing in my life. It had everything! “Boy Meets World”, the Mary-Kate and Ashley Show “It Takes Two”, some show about a teenager who dies after eating a burger.. “Teen Angel”?, and “SABRINA”.

Netflix announced last year, that it would be adapting the VERY dark, and very scary Comic Book Series “The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina”, into a show. Not only does it look creepy, witch-y, cult-like, and incredible.. but it was filmed in Vancouver too! I can’t wait. Is it midnight yet?! Also Salem. Will he talk?! Bigger mysteries do not exist.

(Imagines the origin and adventures of Sabrina the Teenage Witch as a dark coming-of-age story that traffics in horror, the occult and, of course, witchcraft.)

I picked up the Graphic Novel as well, to read before the show came out.. and… oh my GOD it’s so dark and twisted. Full Review for you in my upcoming October Wrap-Up.

(Writer Aaron Mahnke launched his podcast “Lore” in 2015 and it has gained critical acclaim in the time since, including earning Best of 2015 honors from iTunes. The audio program is now becoming a TV series as an anthology that, like the podcast, uncovers real-life events that spawned people’s darkest nightmares. Taking advantage of its ability to showcase visuals, the series blends animation in with the storytelling and narration. “Lore” has a strong horror pedigree, with some of its executive producers coming from other horror fare, including “The Walking Dead.”)

(Exonerated after spending nearly two decades in prison for a crime he did not commit, Steven Avery filed suit against Manitowoc County, Wis., and several individuals involved with his arrest. Shortly after, however, Avery found himself behind bars again, this time accused of the murder of 25-year-old photographer Teresa Halbach. She was last seen on Avery’s property, where she was to photograph a vehicle. Avery and nephew Brendan Dassey were tried and convicted of the crime. But that’s not the end of the story. When Columbia graduate students Laura Ricciardi and Moira Demos read about Avery, they felt his story would make an interesting documentary. Neither PBS nor HBO were interested, but Netflix took on their concept to produce the docuseries, which generated plenty of publicity and prompted petitions to have Avery’s case reviewed, though officials in Wisconsin insist all the evidence is not presented in the program.)

Spooky Book Releases

1.) “In The House, In The Dark of the Woods”

By, Laird Hunt

Release Date: October 16th, 2018

“Once upon a time there was and there wasn’t a woman who went to the woods.”

finaloctreleasespost (106)

Good-Reads Plot Summary

(In this horror story set in colonial New England, a law-abiding Puritan woman goes missing. Or perhaps she has fled or abandoned her family. Or perhaps she’s been kidnapped, and set loose to wander in the dense woods of the north. Alone and possibly lost, she meets another woman in the forest. Then everything changes.

On a journey that will take her through dark woods full of almost-human wolves, through a deep well wet with the screams of men, and on a living ship made of human bones, our heroine may find that the evil she flees has been inside her all along. The eerie, disturbing story of one of our perennial fascinations–witchcraft in colonial America–In the House in the Dark of the Woods is a novel of psychological horror and suspense told in Laird Hunt’s characteristically lyrical prose style. It is the story of a bewitching, a betrayal, a master huntress and her quarry. It is a story of anger, of evil, of hatred and of redemption. It is the story of a haunting, a story that makes up the bedrock of American mythology, but told in a vivid way you will never forget.)

He’ll follow you home, and he won’t let you sleep.

Marion: the new girl. Awkward and plain, steady and dependable. Weighed down by tragedy and hungry for love she’s sure she’ll never find.

Zoey: the pariah. Luckless and lonely, hurting but hiding it. Aching with grief and dreaming of vanished girls. Maybe she’s broken—or maybe everyone else is.

Val: the queen bee. Gorgeous and privileged, ruthless and regal. Words like silk and eyes like knives, a heart made of secrets and a mouth full of lies.

Their stories come together on the island of Sawkill Rock, where gleaming horses graze in rolling pastures and cold waves crash against black cliffs. Where kids whisper the legend of an insidious monster at parties and around campfires.

Where girls have been disappearing for decades, stolen away by a ravenous evil no one has dared to fight… until now.)

6.) “Elevation”

By, Stephen King

Release Date: October 30th, 2018

finaloctreleasespost (111)finaloctreleasespost (112)

Good-Reads Plot Summary

(The latest from legendary master storyteller Stephen King, a riveting, extraordinarily eerie, and moving story about a man whose mysterious affliction brings a small town together—a timely, upbeat tale about finding common ground despite deep-rooted differences.

Although Scott Carey doesn’t look any different, he’s been steadily losing weight. There are a couple of other odd things, too. He weighs the same in his clothes and out of them, no matter how heavy they are. Scott doesn’t want to be poked and prodded. He mostly just wants someone else to know, and he trusts Doctor Bob Ellis.

In the small town of Castle Rock, the setting of many of King’s most iconic stories, Scott is engaged in a low grade—but escalating—battle with the lesbians next door whose dog regularly drops his business on Scott’s lawn. One of the women is friendly; the other, cold as ice. Both are trying to launch a new restaurant, but the people of Castle Rock want no part of a gay married couple, and the place is in trouble. When Scott finally understands the prejudices they face–including his own—he tries to help. Unlikely alliances, the annual foot race, and the mystery of Scott’s affliction bring out the best in people who have indulged the worst in themselves and others.)
