“UGH, As If!”
I think we can all agree that the late 1990’s/early 2000’s gifted us all with some of the BEST Chick-Flicks, hands down. Movies like “Clueless” defined a generation, and I can’t think back to one sleepover I had as a teenager, without thinking of the iconic Cher Horowitz. My friends and I would rent it every single time we saw it on the shelves at Rogers Video! I think I probably owned it on D.V.D & V.H.S. I also had every single “Clueless” book that ever came out…. and I’ve basically never really recovered from my obsession. I used to waste ALL of my Dad’s printer ink.. just desperately printing out photos of Alicia Silverstone.. it was pathetic haha. I just loved everything about it, and I think you all did too. Also how has it been 20 years, and Paul Rudd looks EXACTLY the fucking same?!
“Clueless” was very groundbreaking, not only in it’s storytelling.. but in the FASHION. Basically every girl my age wanted to be Cher, and have that amazing Virtual/ P.C Desktop-Wardrobe-Sorting thing? Whatever it was, we all wanted it.
Case in point… recently I was shopping at the store H&M, and I came across this yellow & black two-piece plaid set. It SCREAMED “Clueless” at me, and I knew I had to have it. I didn’t even try it on, because I just wanted it so badly. Thankfully, it fit like a glove, and it looked so cute. I think finally, after almost 20 years, I’ve found “the” outfit. The “Clueless” outfit.
“Clueless” was one of many iconic films of that time, and I found it almost impossible to narrow it down to my “favs of the late 90’s/early 2000’s”, for this post. I did it though, and I’m pretty satisfied with the end result. Also I think I need to have my Best Friends over for an all-night Movie-Marathon, and watch these all again. I will be wearing my new two-piece set for sure.
(Also P.S, if you live in Vancouver, I just saw on Facebook that “Clueless” is playing as one of the “Vancouver Outdoor Movie Screening” films. It will be playing July 3rd @ 5pm, outside the Vancouver Art Gallery.) Look out for me in my plaid outfit, haha!
Here are some photos of my new getup, and also a walk down memory lane… dedicated to all the chick-flick’s I’ve loved before…. I won’t be reviewing them or anything, because honestly I consider them all a resounding 10/10. I’ll just attach a few sneaky pics, and let you guys guess which one is which. I’m honestly SO inspired by all of these iconic outfits, I need to go shopping immediately. I’m thinking it’s time for neon & knee-socks to make another appearance in my wardrobe.
See you soon,
xo
